Years ago when an elder called me 'sssssister' with so much spite and hatred seething, as though it was the dirtiest word he could muster, I knew we had problems.
Of course the GB, the FDS, the Information Desk, Shipping, they all hate women and view us as inferior. They live it, they teach it, just like shunning-the scarce few verses that address women in the cong direct all of their ignorant behavior. Men Only. Few JW men even qualify for that.

i tried to make nice and leave religious discussion out of things.
however, i found a ny times article about the bossert going on the market and i sent them the link, thinking they'd simply find it interesting, as i did, with no comments from me, just the link.. the article cites the age and history of the bossert, calling it the 'waldorf-astoria of brooklyn' and does suggest potential for great profit on it sale.
i found it interesting that it says that it was built in 1909, the same year that jws set up shop in brooklyn.

Apparently, anything on the internet offends JWs and may be apostate.

i was 14yrs old and thought i was being "possessed by a demon".. panic attacks became more common, and at the age of 18 i was diagnosed with "panic disorder with depression".
I took 5-10 mil of Lexapro for 15 months, might go on it again, I had no problems going on or off. It made a great difference, when I really didn't need it I stopped.
for me, it was joy.
i was raised in the religion, and i always figured i'd be dying along with 6 billion others because i hated the meetings, the preaching work and the rules, morality and threats of 'jehovah'.
i did not want it to be true.. for others here, finding out it was false was a hard time to go through.. as well as asking which feelings you had at first (joy/sorrow/or add your own) i have a follow up question for those who found it hard- what was it that made the impending deaths of 6 billion people okay for you?
I felt like I had done SO much for other people, gave up so much potential, to be completely wholesouled in giving and doing for others and so many JWs are takers, that it was all so that WTS could dupe more people into joining. . .so the GB and others could carry on the lifestyle of overpaid execs - travelling, health insurance, cars, limos, unlimited expense account - I was angry that they had pulled so many magic tricks on the believers, on me, and that I had never questioned, I always believed and furthered their excuses. I had condemned so many people for becoming jaded and cynical, critical of the elders and the society, that really pisses me off.
we had a guy who used to bang on about natural remedies.. at the doors and meetings he would tell everyone what was wrong with them and what to take to remedy it he even told the brothers of for sell coke at the assemblies.. however there was know remedy for his mental health apart from that he was a fat little porker who looked like you could grow spuds on his teeth and washing wasnt big on his agenda last i heard he joined scientology.. we had 4 sisters in the congro pregnant one nut case confessed to the elders he was father to all of them.. one sister used to attack the po's wife in the kh then stand up through the meeting and abuse at the speaker after that they would call the sike team it wasnt uncommon for her to go door to door at midnight.. last i heard she became a counsellor..

Wow. No sh*t. You weren't feeling like the meetings were a protection I see. . .
My first one was at bookstudy in the family home of friends of ours, I was 10 or so. I didn't know what it was and never told anyone, ever, until I was 36 and told my doctor. As a child I remember suffocating, they would last so long, I'd actually checked my temp once and had a fever of 102 or so, I associated the feeling with sickness, I thought I was sick. They were so constant, I'd lay in bed sometimes with continuous panic/anxiety over nothing, just frozen with plain old stifling dread and tears, later they came along with armageddon and persecution/torture thoughts. That was a real treat. I never told a soul, but I did pray, Yoohoovah, make it stop make it stop! Useless He remained and answered me not.
i don't mean the ones we know about already - things people wouldn't think you did or enjoyed to look at you.. i love watching ray mears extreme survival and learning about how to survive and find food and shelter in extreme climates even though there is a strong possibility that i shall never try and escape naked from a japanese prisoner of war camp, or crash without a flagon of water into the sahara, or come stuck in my ship in a freezing ice plateau in deepest antartica.

you are a great bunch of friends and i just want to let you know each and every one of you are appreciated.....i hope i can do the same for you in the future should you need support of any kind.. even people i didn't mean to hurt... who were, have responded kindly....unlike the typical jw reaction.
i hope we can all move on and support each other in our own way what ever that may be.. thanks again to all of you.....and you know who you are, smile,.....you are special!.
